Brainsport Times May. 23, 2018

All the best to everyone taking part in the Saskatchewan Marathon this weekend! We hope everyone has a great day, whether you're racing, volunteering, or cheering along the sidelines.

In this week's Q&A we're speaking the Cary Snyder. Cary is the race director of a new fun run in the city called the Teen Challenge Freedom Run happening on August 19. This event is a great opportunity to get out with family and friends in support of an important cause, which Cary is going to tell us about!

Q&A with Cary Snyder

Tara: What was the motivation behind starting the Teen Challenge Freedom Run?

Cary: Teen Challenge is always interested in finding different ways to reach our community and spread the word about Teen Challenge. The Freedom Run is a fun way to bring people together to raise awareness & funds for Teen Challenge.

Tara: For those not familiar, what is Teen Challenge? And what is the Prairie Hope Women's Centre?

Cary: Teen Challenge is a 12-Month in-residence alcohol and drug addiction rehabilitation program. We offer help and hope to those struggling with life-controlling addictions. We have a Men's Centre near Allan, SK that has been operating for 14 years. The Prairie Hope Women's Centre is a much-needed alcohol and drug addiction rehabilitation program for women over the age of 18.

Tara: How will the funds raised at this event go towards supporting the Prairie Hope Women's Centre?

Cary: All the funds raised for this event will go towards opening the Prairie Hope Women's Centre. We have raised about 82 percent of the funds needed to open the Prairie Hope Women's Centre and are very excited about getting the word out to help us cross the finish line and get this centre opened.

Tara: This is a fun run, so it's not a timed race. Who do you think would enjoy coming out for this event?

Cary: This race has been designed as a fun run and will be suitable for all runners. If the family is looking to do a run/walk together for a good cause this is a great option for a runner of any level that would like to get involved in a 5K run here in Saskatoon.

Tara: Is there anything else you would like to add?

Cary: We are very excited about our upcoming Freedom Run on August 19; and want to thank our sponsors that have gotten involved; Brainsport, Child Of The Cross Running Clinics and New Balance.

May23 18 2

Heat and hydration are on top of mind for everyone heading into the Saskatchewan Marathon this weekend, which makes the Amphipod Profile-Lite Breeze a perfect product pick by Brainsport's Lisette Schermann.

"If you can’t bring a burro on your long run, this will be the next best thing. It’s got a wide, stretchy waist band with grippers to keep it in place. Two 300mL bottles are easy to reach and replace without breaking stride. The lightweight bag in the middle has a water-resistant stash pocket and a zippered main pocket that’s big enough to hold a phone (in its case!) securely." - Lis

Drop by the store to check out Profile-Lite Breeze and other accessories that can help you stay hydrated this weekend. We're also here to help you out with any last minute questions you may have about gear, nutrition, etc. Just come by the store and we'll help get you set up!

Thanks for reading the Times.

Gotta run,
Tara
